Hello Chamber members,
Spring is finally here! The trees are blossoming and the daffodils are starting to bloom.
The office is starting to buzz with visitors and phone calls. Which leads me to our website... again over 5000 hits last month. People are checking us out! We now have parade and booth applications for the 4th on our Web's home page ...so pass the word.
Thanks goes out to Dr. Ravassipour for hosting last months Greeters, and to Ed Lindbloom for his presentation at our luncheon.
Greeters this month is hosted by the friends of the Library Tuesday April 15th at the Library (next to City Hall) and our Luncheon Seminar will be April 22, with a specialist speaking to us about Gateway (check out last Page).

Health Tips by Dr Bob Kelty
Keeping Strong Bones...
Strong bones are not the result of taking calcium. Taking calcium supplements has not been shown to significantly reduce the development of osteoporosis.
If you study the global distribution of osteoporosis, it correlates perfectly with countries adopting the American diet and eating patterns. The countries that have virtually no osteoporosis are those who have a plant based diet. Developing nations begin to replace fruit and vegetable consumption with animal products.
While many risk factors are associated with developing osteoporosis, diet contribution is largely ignored in conventional treatment and prevention efforts. So the principles are:
1. Eat more Vegetables (especially dark green, leafy
ones: spinach, Kale,Chard)
2. Eat more nuts, seeds and fruits.
3. Eat less Meat and Dairy (yes I said dairy)
4. Eat fewer carbohydrates (grains, the
whiter the carbohydrate, the worse it is for you.)
5. Avoid acidic foods like coffee and soft drinks.

Downtown Beautification
The downtown beautification committee purchased 75, 36" planters that need to be planted . We are going to have a COMMUNITY PLANTING EVENT on April 26th which is a Saturday. We are working on the details now on when and where we will be having the event. Flowers were chosen by the Grange Co-Op so we have the proper types of flowers for the North and South Sides of Pine Street. Thank you to the Grange Co-Op
We are asking for businesses to take part in this event, invite your families, your church members, neighbors, friends and even your customers.
Make this a fun day. The more people that help the more pride our town will have. This will only enhance our downtown and our community.
There is no cost to you what so ever, we only ask that you maintain your planter.
We also need to sell 10 more dedication benches that will be located in downtown Central Point. They are beautiful and will be care free benches. If you would like to dedicate a bench to someone or in memory of someone please contact Debbie Saxbury and she will forward you a sponsorship form. We would like to get these ordered ASAP. You can reach her at 664-3433 or saxbury@charter.net
If you have any ideas or questions about the PLANTING EVENT please contact Debbie Saxbury.
